Working with Widescreen (16:9)
Using Video Studio 10
This guide is applicable to other
versions of Video Studio
Ok let's change a 4:3 aspect ratio to
16:9
For earlier versions of Video Studio:-
It was only possible to 'distort' / re-size the video frame from the 'Overlay Tracks'
With later versions we can now distort / resize the frame from the 'Main Video Track'.
If you need to use the 'overlay tracks' the procedure is the same as detailed below.
OK this is what you do, just a few clicks away to widescreen...........
1 / Change the project properties to use 16:9 aspect File - Project Properties-Edit-General tab
2 / With the 4:3 video in the top track select the 'Attributes Tab'. Select the ‘Distort’ button.
The preview screen will show yellow trim handles in the corners.
3 / Right click the preview screen and select ‘Fit to screen’
4 / Right click the preview screen and select ‘Keep aspect ratio’
The process is zooming in to the video far enough to hide the black vertical bars.

Your video will loose some detail from the top and bottom.
It is possible to compensate for one of these by repsoitioning the video
vertically.
Using the Keyboard Arrow keys nudge the video up or down.
Here the frame has been moved up, although i think i
prefer the image above.
